POKU[AJ OSNIVAWA BIBLIOTEKE U ^A^KU 1909. GODINE

                Sa`etak: Zamisao Ministarstva prosvete da ^a~ak postane jedan od bibliote~kih punktova u zemqi i `eqa grada da dobije prvu profesionalnu ustanovu kulture zabele`eni su u prepisci sa na~elstvom ^a~anskog okruga. Zastupnik na~elnika Milan Doronti} obavestio je 14. aprila 1909. godine ministarstvo „da se u varo{i ^a~ku i okolini ose}a potreba i `eqa za osnivawem javne biblioteke.“ O ~itanosti kwiga i postojawu zainteresovanog auditorijuma govori podatak o 98 ~lanova Srpske kwi`evne zadruge 1908. godine. Budu}a biblioteka mogla je da ra~una na „izvestan broj kwiga, bez literarne vrednosti“, wen prostor u crkvenoj ku}i i skroman inventar nekada{we ^a~anske ~itaonice, koji su sa~uvali prota Sreten Mihailovi} (1854-1937) i u~iteq Ninko Cvetojevi} (1863-1932). Potsticajni efekat ove nerealizovane ideje posredno se mo`e sagledati iz podataka o ratnoj {teti pri~iwenoj u Prvom svetskom ratu kwi`nom fondu obnovqene ~itaonice, u kojoj je za vreme neprijateqske okupacije uni{teno nekoliko hiqada svezaka jedne od najbogatijih biblioteka u Srbiji.

ATTEMPT OF LIBRARY ESTABLISHMENT IN CHACHAK IN 1909 

            Summary:The project of the Ministry of Education Chachak to become one of the library places in the country and the wish of the town to get the first professional cultural establishment are noted in the correspondence with the county head office of Chachak. The deputy head Milan Dorontich informed the Ministry on April 14, 1909 „that the town of Chachak and the vicinity feel a need and wish for establishing of a public library“. The datum on 98 members of Srpska književna zadruga in 1908 witnesses on reading of books and the existence of the public interest. The future library could count on „certain number of books without literary value“, its premises in the church house and a modest furniture of the former Čačanska čitaonica which had been preserved by the priest Sreten Mihailovich (1854-1937) and the schoolteacher Ninko Cvetoyevich (1863-1932) The incetive effect of this not implemented project may be seen indirectly from the data on the war damage done in the First World War to the book funds of the restored Čitaonica when during the enemy occupation it had suffered a loss of several thousands of volumes of one of the richest libraries in Serbia.
