Public library "Vladislav Petkovic Dis" is the oldest cultural institution in Cacak and one of the oldest public libraries in Serbia. Its beginings reached to 1848. and during one and a half century library in Cacak had various transitions. Today our library is main library for the Moravicki district, which is situated in the western part of Serbia, and responsible for public libraries in Gornji Milanovac, Guca and Ivanjica, three special libraries, 10 high school libraries and 34 primary school libraries. Cacak is the administrative centre of Moravicki district and industrial, trade and cultural centre of this part of Serbia, with some 100.000 inhabitants.

            Our library carries its name in honour of Vladislav Petkovic Dis (1880-1917), a well know Serbian poet born in village Zablace near Cacak, whose hard and tragical life depicted its poetry. Vladislav Petkovic Dis had published only two poetry books before his death in the First World War, but his poems still have a great influence on modern Serbian poetry and literature.

            Through our programs, book lending, workshops, exibitions, Internet and other contents Public library "Vladislav Petkovic Dis" aims to spread basic principles of modern Library and Information Science: free information for everybody, everywhere and anytime, books and reading popularize, cultural and social interchange and diversity.
